The Basics of the Diamond

February 9th, 2010 by admin

The Diamond is the subject of this article…the world’s most precious gemstone. We start our article off by exploring some of the myths that have been associated with this gemstone over the years, and then we examine some of the finer properties as well. The diamond, also known as the “King of Gems”, has been coveted and desired by man since the early ages. Uncut diamonds were worn by knights on their armor. Cut versions of the same gemstone were situated on the crowns of kings and queens. Internationally recognized as the symbol of love, they have become the center of attention because of their unique investment potential.Diamonds were thought to have been endowed with magical powers in times gone by. Merely by possessing a diamond (it was thought), the holder would be endowed with the three attributes of courage, superior strength, and bravery. This is the main reason that knights wore this gemstone on their armor. It was also thought that the diamond could ward off evil creatures from the spirit realm, and the devil himself.Diamonds have been attributed to many different things over the years. Here’s a short list: (1) Invincibility, (2) Spiritual Ecstasy, (3) Sleepwalking, and (4) Sexual Prowess. Ah, but there is a catch to this list. In order to obtain these benefits, the person has to have found the diamond in its natural setting, in the wild. If they purchased it from someone else, this supposed “contract” was void. There is one exception though. If the diamond was offered as a symbol of friendship or love, such as a setting in an engagement ring, then these magical powers may return.Four separate castes, that’s how the Hindus classified the diamond. The categories were: (1) The Kshatiya, a brown/champagne colored diamond that prevented old age. (2) The Brahmin diamond, a colorless diamond that provided riches, power, friends, and good luck. (3) The Sudra, a diamond that was gray or black and glistened like a polished piece of metal, which brought about good fortune. (4) The Vasiya, a diamond the color of the “kodali flower” which brought success. Yellow and red diamonds are also available, but they were the exclusive gems of kings.Let’s examine the diamond from a chemical prospective. From this prospective it is the simplest of all gemstones. It is just plain ole’ crystallized carbon, chemically the same as the substance that is used to make a lead pencil. It is the crystallized pattern of the diamond that makes it different, and the reason that it is so highly prized. What is the hardest known substance? Any idea? It’s the diamond of course. Even though it’s hard, it can be chipped (if it is struck at just the right angle). This ability to be “chipped” is what allows a gemologist to shape the diamond into the thing of beauty that we buy in our jewelry stores.Did you know that diamonds come in every color of the rainbow? This is true, but the white diamond is definitely the most popular version of the gem. Irregardless, diamonds of any color make a perfect addition to any fine piece of heart jewelry.

I Handle the Bookings for My Boyfriend’s Wedding Band in Atlanta

February 8th, 2010 by admin

My  boyfriend plays for a very popular band in the Atlanta area. Actually, his band is not particularly popular with the teeny-boppers. He and hes buddies play for wedding receptions and special occasions almost every single weekend. I think that people like them because they are so versatile. They can play almost anything, old or new. This comes in handy when some dear old gentleman has a special request because he remembers the special song that he and his bride danced to so many years before. Occasionally I get to accompany Jeremy to these gigs, but mostly I just handle the booking schedule. People find the band when they google “wedding bands Atlanta.” It’s just that easy.

The gift I wanted to send my wife

February 6th, 2010 by admin

For the past eight years my wife and I have been operating an insurance agency here in Southern California. It’s been pretty rough at times as we have had to weather a lot of the economic changes. I guess it’s the fact that we offer both auto and home insurance that has really helped us through a lot of rough financial times that have affected most. Because my wife has always given 110 % I decided that I wanted to sent her a cool present at work. My friend Fay said I should check out some gift baskets to send my wife. I never thought of this cool idea.

My Daughter Told Me About brazilian hair removal

February 5th, 2010 by admin

My daughter Lara Lynn and I can talk about anything on earth, and we really do feel very comfortable with each other, more like sisters than a mom and daughter.  We were talking about how horribly painful it is to get waxed, but how the shaving option was just as bad because it has to be done so often.  Even waxing needs tons of upkeep. Lara Lynn just told me about a brazilian hair removal method using lasers.  We both love this concept because this is a permanent solution and it would be so wonderful not to have to worry with this constantly.

The office doesn’t seem so daunting thanks to my lovely sheepskin boots!

February 4th, 2010 by admin

Going into the office can be a bit of a pain when the weather is as cold as this, but thanks to my lovely new sheepskin boots I don’t have to worry about being cold either on the walk there or in the office anymore. It’s never nice when you can see your breath when you’re sitting at your desk, but unfortunately it’s a reality for many of us at this time of year, and the bad news is there may be worse weather on the way! My lovely sheepskin boots, teamed with about twenty layers have taken the edge off the cold though, and now going to work is positively a joy! I know that some people wouldn’t be able to dress this casually to go to work and I am very lucky that I work in a sector that allows me to, but I urge you that when the weather is like this sheepskin boots are worth the investment! Even if it’s not possible to wear them to the office, these little gems are a godsend when you’re out and about, from taking the dog for a walk to fighting your way through the January sales! Go on, treat yourself!

Nuwave Oven Goes Camping

February 2nd, 2010 by admin

Well my husband dragged me camping this week.  I wasn’t looking forward to eating all my meals cooked over an open fire. In fact, I was getting pretty depressed about it until I came up with a great idea.  I decided I would take my nuwave oven with me.  After all the thing is portable.  Anyways what I did is have my husband throw his generator in the back of the pick up truck and drive it up to our campsite.  Everyday I would fire up that generator to power the Nuwave Oven. I didn’t have to spend one day suffering the campfire meals. I think my family really loved it also.
