What is the phonics program exactly?

February 21st, 2010 by admin

I remember seeing the first phonics program on television on an infomercial about 20 years ago. This was the greatest thing invented since sliced bread and parents absolutely loved it. The thing about phonics is there have been several thousand new renditions of the original and every single one of them work very well. Some work better for some children and for children of different ages there are programs that tend to feel more comfortable. Phonics is essentially learning letters and words through the “sound” of the letters and the words. It teaches your child to read phonetically and has a track record of speeding up their ability to learn to read very quickly.

Identify Hot Spots Dogs

February 18th, 2010 by admin

I work in a Vet’s office three days a week as an intern. Yesterday we had an owner bring her pet for a check up. I couldn’t’ believe the condition this poor animal was in. When you see Hot Spots Dogs that literally cover their whole back side you would think the owner would have brought them in a lot sooner.

I was so angry at this person. She didn’t even notice how bad her pet was. I explained to her through gritted teeth that skin rashes and loss of fur on a dog are big flashing warning signs of some serious problems. This woman wasn’t even fazed. She just told me get her some medicine and her pet will be fine. I’m checking to see if I can report her for animal cruelty.

Neighbor’s Invention Is Patent Pending

February 17th, 2010 by admin

My next door neighbor is one of those guys who is always planning some crazy get-rich-quick scheme.  You know the type.  They put more effort into creating some invention that will never work instead of concentrating on finding a job.  Yesterday I heard this awful noise coming from his garage and of course I had to see what he was up to now.  I entered the garage and found him cutting a length of copper tubing into smaller sections with a circular saw.  When he realized I had come into the garage, he quickly turned off the saw and covered up an object sitting on his workbench.  I asked what he was doing and he replied that he was working on a new invention that would make him a millionaire.  He had already applied for a patent.  It had not been issued yet, but was Patent Pending.  All I could do was shake my head and walk away.

Touching Card Wording

February 10th, 2010 by admin

The sympathy card wording in the card I received today was very touching.  Some of them can sound so superficial but this was not the case this time.  The card showed a very tranquil scene and just a few words in about four lines.  The sincerity of the sentiment was there, though.  Sometimes it’s better to receive a card like this than one that sounds too flowery and fake.  I’m glad they are selling more of a pleasing variety of these cards.  Sometimes people can be offended if they read a card and feel you were being disrespectful in sending it.

Reasons to raise a pig

February 9th, 2010 by admin

My friend Joseph has decided he is interested in raising a pig. I asked him if he was referring to a pot-bellied pig for a pet or the type of pig that turns into a hog. He told me he wasn’t sure about the type but he said he knew he wanted to raise a pig. I asked Joseph where the pig would be kept and he said he could build a shelter in his back yard. I asked him why he decided to raise a pig and he told me while visiting his cousin’s farm, he helped his cousin feed the pigs and decided he liked it and wanted to raise his own pig. I asked Joseph how much it would cost him to raise a pig and he told me he thought it would probably cost him anywhere between $100.00 to $150.00 based on what he’s read about raising a pig. I asked Joseph if he would be selling the pig after it was full grown but he said he hadn’t thought that far into the future.

Wedding MC Jokes

February 7th, 2010 by admin

When you MC a wedding it can be difficult but with these tips it will be easy and fun. If the bride and groom are considered keeners then you are already halfway there and the jokes should be easy. If they have the reception planned and you know who will be speaking it will be easy for your to plan comments, jokes and what not. It is also good in case anything changes and you can make adjustments. One good place to interject humor is before introductions are being made, that of the parents, maid of honor, etc. It is super easy to adjust jokes to the person who is being introduced. Make sure the wedding jokes are appropriate however. Using jokes in things situations are wonderful, just make sure to plan and be ready for changes of adjustments.

Leaf through these books

February 6th, 2010 by admin

Directions are often agreed in uneven outline sentences or flow-chart mini-phrases, I estimate tiresome not to “handicap” the apprentice who might not be able to read very well. Math text books seem notorious pro thinking with the intention of habitual language must be missing by the entrance as the theme is simultaneous equations or coordinate graphing or exponential equations. Harold Jacobs writes in understandable used home school curriculum appealing and engaging English. My kids love to leaf through these books to discover the skilled cartoons, even Molly enjoys them. You’ll soon be chuckling and flipping through to look pro more. Open up one of Harold Jacobs’ math text books and browse a bit, Elementary Algebra, Geometry, or Mathematics a Human Endeavor.
