A Good Risk Management Plan Gets The Job Done

June 26th, 2010 by admin

Last month my best friend and I were trading the S&P 500 e-mini futures contract when our trading computers started sparking and caught fire. The smoke alarm immediately started going off and we had no idea how to handle an electrical fire. Luckily the risk management team had informed us that all our stops got filled and  what to do in the event of a fire. Everyone got out of the building and the fire department was able to handle the situation. Risk management had a plan of action, and knew exactly where employees should meet, and who should be in charge of taking a head count for missing employees.  Thank God our investment positions were allowed to keep running as the futures prices went up, or they got filled with a stop loss market order if the market sold off!
